Prosperity Scriptures
Although many may think that prosperity scriptures are an oxymoron, according to Biblical scripture, abundance and prosperity are part and parcel of the creation of our planet. "The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord."(Psalm 33:5) "The earth He has given to the children of men." (Psalm 115:16) Despite conventional wisdom, prosperity was often encouraged and viewed as a sign of God’s blessing. Jesus Christ "became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich." (2 Corinthians 8:9) God has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant. (Psalm 35:27) "The blessing of the Lord makes one rich." (Proverbs 10:22) Many holy books and writings describe the mechanics of attracting and attaining prosperity and wealth and its power and virtue, when used for the good of all. For instance, prosperity scriptures state that: God "gives (us) power to get wealth." (Deuteronomy 8:18) God teaches us to profit. (Isaiah 48:17) God has given us instructions on how to be prosperous and successful in Joshua 1:8 & Psalm 1:1-3. According to Matthew 25:14 “For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.” The above scripture quote from Matthew is really a description of the Law of Attraction. If you feel like you have an abundance, you will continue to attract abundance. If you feel lack, you will only attract more lack.
The Most Commonly Misunderstood Scripture
Although many have beliefs that being prosperous is not a spiritual value and quote spiritual texts, such as the Bible, reading these writings carefully reveals the opposite. Many state that the Bible says the money is the root to all evil. But, the actual quote is that “the love of money is the root to all evil”. In other words, money is neither good not bad. It’s just money. But, if you are focused on money as your master or the answer to all your problems and that it will make you happy, you are in for a rude awakening. Then, there is the controversial passage that so many use to prove that it is bad to be rich and prosperous: "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Luke 18:25 The best explanation I have heard for this scripture comes from

(link opens new window) which addresses the larger picture of money in our lives. He states that Jesus is not really talking about money, but our hearts. He addresses why we make, save, and give money. My take is that that money, in itself is not the issue, but if we are pursuing money for ego- based reasons, we are headed for trouble. If our reasons are aligned with who we really are, our prosperity will come from a place of abundance and good for all. That making money is not for just having stuff, but for the expansion of self in the world as a force for positive change and service. He emphasizes that we not be afraid of money, but rather feel at peace with what we have right now, be good stewards of our money, and to give generously. I couldn't agree more! Prosperity scriptures show that the Universe/God created humans to be blessed with abundance, prosperity and wealth to enjoy and cherish. Prosperity and wealth, when sought in all areas of life is, in fact, the result of being aligned with God’s
(or Universal) Law.
